Congratulations!

You have just selected one of the world’s most perfectly balanced instruments. Your new NSD Power® ball is a precision crafted gyroscope, which has been carefully constructed using only materials of the highest quality and finely balanced using state of the art computer technology to ensure zero vibration up to speeds in excess of 15,000rpm (250Hz).

As with all finely tuned products, there are certain procedures that you should follow to achieve maximum enjoyment while using your NSD Power® ball so we recommend you read these instructions carefully.

How to start your new NSD Power® ball Starting NSD Power® ball is quite easy, but can take a little practice in order to perfect your technique. We recommend you proceed as follows:

fig1 - starting your NSD Power®ballStep 1. Insert one end of the cord into the hole in the rotor (fig. 1). Proceed to turn the rotor forward with your thumb, while maintaining pressure on the cord between your other fingers to make sure there is no slack as it winds up around the rotor groove (fig. 2).

fig2 - starting your NSD Power®ballStep 2. When there are only about 3 inches of cord remaining, stop winding and hold the ball with the digital counter (tip) buried into the palm of the hand that you are going to spin the NSD Power® ball up with (usually right if right handed, left if left etc.). The exposed rotor will be facing the ceiling at this stage (fig. 3).

fig3 - starting your NSD Power®ballStep 3. Hold the cord firmly and give it a quick, sharp tug away from the ball (as if starting a lawn mower!). Really let rip here, (don’t be afraid of it!). But ensure that you always pull it straight out to minimise the opportunity for the cord to jam in between the rotor mechanism and the outer shell if pulled sideways. The rotor should now be spinning at between 2400 & 3000 rpm.

fig4 - starting your NSD Power®ball

Step 4. Immediately turn your hand over (so that the exposed part of the ball is now facing the ground) and begin to rotate your wrist (not your arm!) in a slow circular motion (fig. 4) as if you were slowly stirring a large pot with a long wooden spoon or waxing a car. The proper motion required to do this involves absolutely no movement of your arm - just the wrist joint!

Step 5. The secret to easy starting of the ball is to begin slowly - i.e., after giving the ball a good spin with the cord, begin your wrist movement in slow, wide lazy turns (6-8 inches in diameter - about 1 turn per second). Don’t start with fast, short wrist movement as you will be out of sync with the slow spinning rotor and will find it difficult to properly increase the speed. (In this manner, you will hear the rotor ’slapping’ noisily in the sphere as it struggles to find momentum).

Step 6. As you slowly build up the rotor’s speed, you will find that the pressure acting on your wrist and arm will increase proportionally as gyroscopic forces build within the NSD Power® ball. Respond by reducing the diameter of your turning circles (3-4 inches) and increasing their speed (3-6 times each second) - the shorter the circle the wrist goes through in an effort to spin the ball, the faster you will drive the rotor and, consequently the harder it will be to do! To achieve those really high speed runs, (12,000 rpm+) it’s all about practice - not that this is going to be difficult, because your new NSD Power® ball is totally addictive and you will find it hard to put it down once you perfect the technique!

After using it for a short while, you will begin to feel significant power improvements in your wrists and arms whereby you will really find those scores increasing - the true secret to achieving a 13,000 rpm run is a turning radius of about 1cm where there is virtually no break in the wrist joint whatsoever - the arm and wrist look like they are barely moving at all - yet the wrist tendons look ready to burst with the force!

NSD POWER® BALL - FUNCTIONS

250HZ & NEON SERIES

1. Total Accumulated Revolutions Press the ’FCN’ button to reveal the revolutions on the display. This mode calculates the accumulated rotor revolutions during a session and records each 100 rotations as one unit - for example 7240 revolutions will display as 72.

2. ’Real Time’ Revolutions Press the ’FCN’ button to reveal the current revolutions on the display. This counter setting allows real time monitoring of the rotor’s RPM (revs per minute) speed.

3. The Highest RPM Press the ’FCN’ button to reveal the high speed symbol on the display. While the rotor is stationary, this counter setting will automatically display the highest RPM ever achieved on the ball. Once the rotor is in motion however, the mode automatically changes to the new high score setting. This will effectively record the highest score achieved during the current session - if this is a higher score than the current record held in the counter’s memory, then the display will flash and the new score will automatically overwrite the old high score once the rotor stops turning. If the score is lower than the current high score in the counter’s memory, then it will remain on the display until the rotor stops and revert back to the high score mode once again.

4. The Physical Strength Index Press the ’FCN’ button to reveal the strength index on the display. This setting will begin to record the number of actual revolutions made during the 30, 60 or 90 second interval immediately after the rotor is set in motion. The display begins counting down and continues until the last 5 seconds - whereby the accumulated revs will appear. This is a superb test of your strength as you need to keep the rotor spinning at the highest possible revs for a period of 30/60 or 90 seconds in order to achieve a maximum score!

NSD POWER® BALL - FUNCTIONS TECHNO SERIES

The Techno Series has the speedometer built into the rotor. It has two functions.

1. Highest Score Achieved Activate the rotor in the direction of the arrow on its surface and bring the rotation speed up to 6000 rpm.

The first of the 7 LEDs built into the surface of the rotor will illuminate. Each subsequent 1000-rpm achieved will activate an additional LED. The ball stores the highest speed achieved in its memory and once this has been exceeded, the full band of illuminated LEDs will begin to flash. After a run has been completed, hold the ball firmly in hand and let the rotor slow down. Once the last LED line extinguishes, the highest score achieved will scroll magically across the surface of the rotor - (the skill is also in holding the actual unit steady enough to allow you to read it!)

2. Number of Revolutions in 30 Seconds Activate the rotor so that the first LED illuminates. Hold that speed for approx. 18 seconds. The blue LED will now illuminate and begin flashing on and off to signify the start of your 30-second run. Spin the rotor as fast as possible for this 30-second duration! Once the time has elapsed, the blue LED will illuminate continuously. After 3 seconds, the achieved score will scroll across the surface of the rotor.

NOTE: The counter display on the 250Hz and Neon models powers off automatically after a period of 40 seconds when no rotor movement is detected. This yields an extended battery life of several years. Replacement batteries can be purchased from your local jeweller/watch retailers.

THE TECHNO SERIES do not require batteries.

Using NSD Power® ball as an Exercise Instrument NSD Power® ball is an extremely flexible exercise tool with which to build huge power in the arms, wrists and fingers. Its unique functionality makes it of particular benefit to enthusiasts of many different types of sport such as Golf, Tennis, Squash, and all other activities demanding increased power in the arms, hand and wrists. It is great for musicians too! Drummers, guitarists, pianists (in fact most musicians!) will benefit from the increased strength and dexterity that an NSD Power® ball will give them! However, as with all forms of exercise, you should never attempt to over exert yourself with this product and should consult a physician if in any doubt about your personal level of fitness.

"NSD Power® ball generates resistance which is directly in proportion to the effort expended by the user". Which means that when used at lower speeds, it is also a very effective tool with which to help soothe and recuperate sore or damaged limbs, or help reduce the inflammation caused by Arthritis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, RSI or Tendonitis. NSD Power® ball is totally non impact.

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

  • Persons with heart conditions of any description are recommended not to use this product.
  • NSD Power® ball is suitable for all ages. However, it is recommended that children under 12 are supervised by an adult.
  • Avoid touching the rotor if it is spinning at high speeds - it will burn!
  • DO NOT DROP the ball at any time - the heavy rotor will damage the inner surface of the sphere.
  • Please keep the inner part of the ball clean and avoid any form of lubricant or oil contamination.
  • Always support the sphere FIRMLY in the hand EVERY TIME the rotor is spinning inside - failure to do so won’t cause any significant reduction in the life expectancy of your new NSD Power® ball but will make it noisy and "rough" sounding over time.

REMEMBER; slow speeds for gentle rehabilitation - high speeds for pure muscle building fun!
